We're pleased to continue working with the team at Remark Glass and Bottle Underground in their efforts to “bring glass back” and establish glass circularity in Philadelphia. The non-profit, Bottle Underground, will accept a portion of our glass wine bottles and repurpose them at their sister organization Remark Glass.
The partnership began in 2021 as a means of recycling several pallets worth of bottles generated from the Winery’s sales activities at holiday markets in Center City, Philadelphia. Since there are insufficient other means for recycling the glass bottles in Philadelphia, Remark Glass has stepped in to ensure that all the glass from Chaddsford’s holiday market is given a second life. In that first year, the Winery donated 1,983 cases from sales in November and December alone. With projected growth for the 2022 season, the amount of donated glass stands to increase considerably.
Chaddsford glass is used to create some of their hand-blown, small batch home accessories including a set of nesting bowls. In addition, they recirculate, recycle, downcycle, and upcycle the glass into the local economy, helping to prevent staggering amounts of glass from ending up in landfills.
With enhanced sustainability practices serving as one of our core corporate values, there is a natural alignment with Remark’s mission and vision.
The goal is that small efforts like this can have a meaningful impact local to Philadelphia but can also help to foster a broader commitment to caring for our planet and protecting our environment.
